Why Am I Blogging?

I get urges to write. I know I could simply write in my own diary. But there is something about there being a potential reader the other end which enables a crafting of a story arc (and something that makes more sense than my scribbles in my notebooks). My private diaries don’t read like Anne Frank’s, I might be journalling ideas which seem unrelated to each other, then start bullet pointing my to-do list in the middle of a sentence and then doodle a bit, then get distracted and stop. However, a blog… it is designed for a reader, a witness, to comprehend what I am trying to communicate, with an attempt at a start, middle and end. Hey, maybe no one will read it, I don’t care too much, but I get a thrill posting it out into the ether.

Perhaps it feels I am making a little dent in the universe whenever I publish a medium post, however small.

A topic is floated around my head, perhaps from conversations around me or from some spark of insight from observations, and then the thoughts hover around my mind, a cloud of potentiality. Sometimes the thoughts are looping and disorganised, and I feel a desire to capture them in a tangible way, it helps to understand and clarify my beliefs and viewpoint. To explore it through a short piece of writing is to crystallise the whirring in my brain into form. It is a practice to figure out your own true perspective, rather than absorbing what everyone else is saying.

When exploring other states of consciousness, say through meditation, dreaming or trance dance, you bypass the mind and may discover some nuggets of wisdom from within you. I feel it is meaningful to bring or decipher those messages and insights back into the world, follow those signs and nudges. Similarly, I want to take what is happening from all my experiences and encounters, in altered states or not, as my artistic palette to work from — to paint a picture, through writing. Allow all that wants to come through me to flood on through. Reflect and process all the input I have from my world view. Hey, there might even be some important clues within each blog that I write.

Upcoming topics for my future blogs:

  • Dance is the Gateway
  • Repressed Joy
  • Hippy Hotspots of the World

Thanks for being a witness. We are all holding space for each other to evolve.
